Our family began this adventure in 2018 when we moved to a beautiful farm nestled in Edmond, Oklahoma. Since then we have created a home and have dedicated our time to organically growing herbs and flowers known for their healing properties, however we specialize in the organic cultivation of lavender.
Our journey with lavender began long before we moved to the farm, as we experimented with various varieties to find the one best suited to Oklahoma's weather. After years of trial and error, we achieved success and are blessed to have over 1,000 thriving lavender plants on our farm.
Lavender in Oklahoma typically blooms once a year, usually in June. Harvesting by hand is a labor-intensive but rewarding process. Afterward, the lavender is hung to dry in a dark, low-humidity room. Once dried, we use steam distillation to extract essential oils and hydrosols. These are then blended with carefully researched and responsibly sourced organic ingredients to create the luxurious, non-toxic products in our Green Bee Skin Care line.
We use organic plant hydrosols, butters, oils, and essential oils, ensuring they are naturally preserved and pH balanced to maintain their safety and healing properties. Additionally, our honey bees contribute their wonderful by-products, enhancing the benefits of our offerings.
Additionally, we offer our seasonal, raw farm-produced products under our LOKal line.
My husband is a United States Navy Veteran and a Medical Doctor (MD), and I hold a Masters Degree in Health Science (MHS). This education has given us a profound understanding of skincare science and health needs. Our expertise guides us in making healthy and intentional choices for our family that support clean, non-toxic living and overall well-being.
We believe that whole-body health begins with choosing organic, clean, non-toxic products. This conscious choice helps us avoid the impurities and toxins that are all too common in our food and skincare ingredients.
Here are some nerdy fun facts that helped us fall in love with lavender and honey bees... we hope you will too!
Lavender essential oil and hydrosol contain several bioactive compounds, including linalool, linalyl acetate, terpinen-4-ol, acetate lavandulol, ocimene, and cineole. These compounds contribute to lavender's antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antispasmodic properties. These benefits make it a versatile addition to any wellness routine. Scientific studies have shown that lavender oil can positively affect the nervous and digestive systems, and may help reduce anxiety and improve sleep quality.
Honey is rich in antioxidants, including flavonoids and phenolic acids, which help neutralize harmful free radicals in the body. Honey also has antimicrobial properties that can help fight infections and promote wound healing.
